Kinnaur Congress organises blood donation camp to mark Rajiv Gandhi's birth anniversary

Shimla, August 20 (UNI) The District Congress Committee Kinnaur and Youth Congress Kinnaur organised a voluntary blood donation camp at the party office in Kinnaur in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday, to mark the 82nd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi.
Party leaders, youth members, frontline workers and local volunteers participated in the camp, which witnessed an enthusiastic response, with around 40 units of blood donated.
Paying tribute to Rajiv Gandhi, District Congress Committee Kinnaur president Negi Nigam Bhandari said the former Prime Minister was revolutionary in his thinking and laid the foundation of the digital revolution that the country was witnessing today.
He said Rajiv Gandhi had also empowered the youth by reducing the voting age and his contribution to nation building and development would always be remembered. Bhandari said Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed his life for the unity, integrity and progress of the country and India would never forget his supreme sacrifice. Kinnaur Youth Congress president Ajay Thakur was also present on the occasion.
Speaking at the camp, he said public service and humanitarian relief were among the core objectives of the organisation and similar community-focused health camps would be organised across the district in the future.
Thakur expressed gratitude to party leaders, workers and volunteers who participated in the blood donation drive. Youth Congress leaders and workers also paid tributes to Rajiv Gandhi and participated in the camp.
